Manchester House moves limited

I was quoted a total price of £587 for the move and paid a deposit of £116. On the day of the move the 2 guys turned up and the first thing they did was asked me to check the price which they said was just under £1200. After negotiating with their boss over the phone managed to get him to agree to £1000. He only agreed to this if I transferred the money before the van departed. The excuse I was given was that the employee who gave me the quote had been doing this for weeks and had since been sacked. If this was the case, a call before the actual move day could have prevented the extra stress that it caused. I can’t help thinking that this is a scam that they pull on move day when there is no other option than to argue the toss over the phone with someone who could not explain how the job was costed and unwilling to honour a price that was quoted by a member of their staff. Another company quoted around £800. Not happy and feeling like I was scammed on the day.

Please don’t book this company.. I was quoted £561, I paid a 20% deposit and when they loaded all my belongings in the van and started driving, rang me straight away and charged me £1162 and threatened to turn back the van and offload my belongings if I didn’t pay.. i now have long winded legal proceedings in place. They take advantage of people in stressful situations of moving house, please don’t book with this company. On another note they were also two hours late to the job and my partner was asked by one of the men about being paid in cash… VERY dodgy company!

This is a scam! They provided a quote, and once they had our goods, they took them hostage and demanded payment of double the quote to release the goods. They did not provide the unpacking service they charged for, packed our items in bin bags and wanted a payment of over £200 for cardboard boxes, then did not provide the joinery services we paid for. We have tried contacting them afterwards to claim our refund to no avail. We will raise a dispute with our bank to seek the refund. We would recommend a police investigation into this company immediately. They have already scammed other customers, and will continue to do so if their staff including Patrick, Kylie, Cath and Dave are not stopped immediately.

I was quoted a final price then stung with additional costs half way through the move which ended up doubling the original quote. Avoid, absolute scammers. Wouldn’t tell me what the “additional costs” were!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Booked in for 9am but didn't come until 12pm - this wasn't a big issue for us though. One of the guys were incredibly rude and the way he spoke to me was disgusting. We weren't advised previously that all drawers had to be emptied completely before they went into the van (we didn't have to do this previously!). When they unloaded everything to the new house they just piled it all up in the front room even though boxes were clearly labelled for each room and we were told by the company they would do a proper job. They also broke our microwave.

Was originally quoted for 1 van load, but ended up needing 2 trips, so had the van all day, which wasn't a problem for them. My only minor criticism is they should have an option for moving certain items into specific rooms, eg bedroom furniture, which I would happily have paid more for when I booked. But overall a really good experience and can highly recommend.

The guys doing the moving were lovely and extremely hard working. Unfortunately it was clear to see they had been over booked. They were an hr and 25 minutes late starting to move. There was a lack of communication from the office as the van provided was too small for a 3 bed house resulting in items being crushed to fit in and also a set of drawers got broken. The office were more concerned about taking my money before the move had even been completed and could assess my belongings. The office did not make it clear as to what was included in the price i.e taking items to correct rooms. Luckily the guys were so nice they decided to do this in the end anyway.
